  1. Why our summer is called "Free My Heart" Summer Program?

    "Free My Heart" was first established in New Jersey back in 2005. In the past 7 years, students and parents have loved it so much that the camp has expanded to accommodate increasing demands. Ohio Chinese School will adopt the successful management and teaching style of the "Free My Heart" Summer Program, and will also use its camp number as the first Summer program number. Ohio Chinese School "Free My Heart" summer program will be the first summer program for Chinese community in central Ohio.
  2. When does 2014 summer program start?

    Ohio Chinese School "Free My Heart" Summer program starts from 6/2/2014 to 8/8/2014, one session per week with a total of 10 sessions. Operation time is from 7:30AM to 6:00PM, Monday to Friday.
  3. What is the schedule of Summer Program?

    Monday to Thursday: on - campus classes and activities.
    Friday will be unique outdoor programs.
    Before class:                  7:30-8:30am
    Check-in:                      8:15-8:30am
    Morning Classes:               9-11:45am
    Lunch/Movie/Reading/Free time: 12:00-2:00pm
    Afternoon Classes:             2:00-4:30pm
    After-class or pick up:        4:30-6:00pm
    Friday:                        Field trip
  4. Where is summer program held?

    The Ohio Chinese School’s "Free My Heart" Summer program is conveniently located at 2341 Snouffer Rd Worthington, OH 43085. There are spacious classrooms and green space both in front and at the back of school, a park and playground are just steps away.
  5. What makes "Free My Heart" Summer program unique in course offering?

    "Free My Heart" summer program adopts most current teaching methodology, provides interesting and life-enriched courses, and offers rich and colorful skill trainings, including Chess, dance and drama by professional teachers. Professionally tutored editing will teach campers how to design and edit pictures and articles. In hand crafts and weaving classes, campers learn how to weave scarves, hand bags, etc. Cooking class teaches campers how to make rice cereals, sweet potato etc, it is one of the most well-loved courses.
  6. What is situational Chinese teaching?

    In order to inspire student interests, instead of reading and writing from textbooks, the teaching approach embeds live situations into Chinese learning, it enables students to learn Chinese words and phrases any time anywhere according to the situation. The teaching approach will make sure campers are happy learners. There is one theme each week, each camper will complete a Chinese study report in both words and graphs at end of each session.
  7. How is the daily lunch arranged?

    Ohio Chinese School "Free My Heart" Summer program management team pays high attention to campers' lunch arrangement. All restaurants providing lunches are insured for food delivery. Lunch arrangement will consider feedback from parents and teachers, make the best nutritious mix with food, veggies and meat. School also provides purified water, but campers will bring their own drinking bottles.
  8. Does the summer program provide receipts? Is program fee tax deductible?

    For parents to budget costs and tax returns, the Ohio Chinese School will provide receipts after receiving the tuition payments, and the program fee is tax deductible.
  9. What if my children go to China or on vacation?

    Students can make travel arrangements as long as registration is at least 2 weeks.
  10. What are the tuitions costs and discounts?

    Tuition for summer program is $260/week
    Registered 3 or more weeks will be $230/week
    Registration before 2/28/2014: $220/week and no registration fee
    Registration before 3/31/2014: $230/week
    Registration before 4/30/2014: $240/week
    Registration before 5/26/2014: $250/week
    If one family has 2 or more children registered: 2nd and above children 10% discount
    The current OCS students and children of Chinese Church members will receive $10 per week rebate.
  11. Is all teaching material included in the program fee?

    Yes, the program fee include all teaching material expenses for regular programs, but not for Enrichment courses and SAT/ACT/PSAT.
  12. Is there any referral discount?

    Yes, there will be a $20 one time discount to each student who refer a friend to our summer program.
  13. What will be the SAT/ACT/PSAT class schedule and fee?

    ACTBasic Level--  6/16 to 6/19 Mon-Thu,9AM to 12PM or 1:30- 4:30
    PSAT/SATBasic Level--  6/23 to 6/26 Mon-Thu,9AM to 12PM or 1:30- 4:30
